You may have seen these terms floating around. HTFSE Stands for High Terpene Full Spectrum Extract, and HCFSE stands for High Terpene Full Spectrum Extract. This basically means that as much of the various cannabinoids and terpenes are kept in tact. When you DO come across it – you may have also noticed its high price tag! Our own NEKTR extracts HCFSE has a weighty price attached to it. If you’ve had the pleasure though, you’ve had the pleasure. The initial sticker shock is melted away with a couple dabs.
But these aren’t your garden variety wax, shatter or budder my friend, oh no. These are something different. Something fully formed and complete. These special extracts are for the connoisseur for special occasions or celebrations! The unique extraction method used leaves almost all of the other cannabinoids and terpenes in tact – instead of just focusing on THC or CBD like many other concentrates.
Why does that matter? I thought THC is what gets you high?
Absolutely it is. THC is the main psychoactive chemical in cannabis. However it’s not the only chemical affecting your high. The various terpenes and other cannabinoids present in your cannabis are responsible for the differences in how they make you feel.
Often people will notice that something that’s *very* high in THC like shatter or distillate will not hit them as hard as it “should”. Or the high is intense but short lived. Either way the high is noticeably different from smoking your favourite flower – even shatter or rosin made from that flower. The complexities and differences between a mid tier indica or high sativa with the same THC level?
That’s the entourage effect that you get from all of the other cannabinoids and terpenes present when you smoke vape or dab something with the whole spectrum still present. A joint and some flower is an effective One-Two combo – but nothing is as sweet, smooth and strong as a HFSE.
What makes it so special is how it is crafted. Great care is taken to preserve the cannabinoids and terpenes. The product is then dewaxed and vacuum purged to remove many fats and lipids remaining – further purifying the extract.
The exact method used by each extraction artist is a tightly guarded secret. It’s difficult to process and keep the terpene, cannabinoid, cbd and THC ratios in proper balance. There are more and more high tech extraction methods being developed every day.
