As an avid smoker, I have to say, thank Buddha for easy access to nice sativa strains. No longer are we expected to just sit on the couch and veg out after a nice puff. Although a great indica is a beautiful treat when you want to spend all day chill as chips on the couch, sativa is there when you feel like having an active day and actually leaving the house.
So, in the name if science, I spent a few days getting as high as possible on some of Walter’s finest sativa, and trying different sports. I took the time to rate them on a 5 joint ranking system. 5 out of 5 joints means that this is a must try. 1 out of 5 means that even with the most energy inducing sativa, it might be best to avoid this activity.
But don’t just take my word for it, try them yourself and let us know how you rank these sports while baked.
Softball – 3.5/5 Joints
Well, the first one was kind of obvious. Smoke a bat and then grab a bat. Softball is super relaxed, so it seemed like this would be a great way test out some high sports. I was totally wrong.
First of all, softball gives you a lot of time to zone out. And I…..mean……a …… lot…… of time. Standing in the outfield high is not only boring, but by the time a ball was actually hit to me, I was trying to figure out the relationship of the birds sitting in the tree beside the field.
When I went up to bat, things just got embarrassing. The ball seemed to be taking forever to get to me, so I just kept swinging early. I struck out on the first two at bats. Then, when I actually managed to get a hit, it took me way, way too long to run to the base. I just stopped running and watched the ball bounce away.
So yeah, avoid softball if high.
Swimming – 4.5/5
Swimming high is always awesome, no need to discuss that. But I’m talking about lap swimming. Getting in the water and doing the front stroke for about 30 mins. This type of swimming is also awesome and a great way to enjoy your high and get your exercise.
By the second lap, you enter this super relaxed zone. The world around you starts to blur and you can really think about things, but still feel a total sense of relaxation. Probably because of the moderate exercise, the upbeat vibes you normally get from a sativa become euphoric.
A must try for all the weed lovers out there!
Biking – 4/5 joints (Depending on the location)
Do not try this on a busy street!!! Go to a nice trail outside the city, blaze your J (or bong) and hope on the ol’bike. The rest of the day will be amazing and beautiful.
I started by riding beside lake. The fresh breeze and the smell of the water really elevated the high. By going at a nice slow speed,the entire ride felt chill. Also, this time I was with some friends who were also high. So we quickly got giggly and laughed as we biked a long.
The best part is that you can stop to have some munchies at any time. This is pretty essential, because when you mix weed and exercise, you get a serious hunger.
Some advice, don’t get too close to a beach if you can avoid it. It’s hard enough not to stare at all the hot bods when you’re sober. When you’re high… well, I ran strait into the side of a building without even trying to put on my breaks.
Basketball 1/5 Joints
Yeah, this is just a big no. Team sports in general should just be avoided when high. I missed at least ten passes for no other reason than the fact that I was looking off into space. I wasn’t even looking at anything in particular, just looking at the sky. So, people got pretty frustrated with me, which is a buzz kill.
On top of that, running back and forth and up and down the court just sucks. Weed is made for some mellow times, not busting your ass at top speeds while you try to bounce a ball up and down. Also, Mary Jane doesn’t really do much to improve hand eye coordination.
Then there was trying to take a shot. Just…no. It was awful. The ball dropped about five feet in front of the rim almost half the time. I just couldn’t figure out where the rim actually was or how hard I needed to shoot the ball.
It didn’t help that my friends like to play basketball a little aggressively. Still, unless you are the supreme baller of your town, I might stay away from playing a game of hoops while stoned.
Frisbee or Bocci Ball – 5/5 Joints
Well, maybe these are not always considered sports, but I’m going to put them here anyway. If you are feeling really brave, you can try ultimate frisbee. But, as I said above, team sports are never really a good idea.
Grab a buddy, find a super nice park or beach. Roll yourself a cannon sized J, maybe pack some munchies as well, and enjoy tossing the disc or the ball. These are the perfect sport for a sativa smoke. Both of them are chill enough that you can zone out and still participate. And, they are active enough that you won’t completely forget what you’re doing because there is a cool looking tree over to the side.
Whatever sport you may choose, and we want to hear about it, the time is right to take your smoke outside. Summer is getting nearer to the end, so enjoy every day that you can. And, don’t forget to grab yourself a few nice grams as well.
